 My glasses broke. I've only been using the frames since 2018, though I changed the lenses in 2020. I bought some new glasses before coming to Hungary, but I lost them somewhere on the street when I was carrying some household goods home last year. Out of desperation, then, I made an appointment online with an optometrist here in town. Out of desperation, they pieced together English words to try to help me.            "Tessek," said one of the salespeople behind the tall reception desk.            "I have an appointment," I said. I didn't catch her response.            "I have an appointment," I repeated, "at 2 o' clock."           "Oh, at 2 o'clock" she said, looking at her watch, then looking at the computer.    After confirming my name,  she motioned to me to join her at one of the shorter desks.         ...

  Salzburg (view from the castle) Sunrise Falconry at Werven Where Eagles Dare (1968) was filmed in this castle. Outdoor scenes from the Sound of Music (1965) was filmed nearby in the city of Werven. There is a Sound of Music Trail which is free if you can find it. We wandered all over town looking for it for three hours.
