Morning Walk

I'd like to invite you for a morning walk around my neighborhood. Spoiler alert: I got lost looking for a shortcut to my street.   

These are the landscaped gardens around the water tower.  ( I updated yesterday's blog with a picture of the water tower.)


Following the tramline down to the river, I found this little greenspace with a magnificent willow tree. 

Is anyone ready to learn the days of the week in Hungarian?  (Actually, it's just Monday through Friday, but I know a store front near the school where I can take a picture of Saturday and Sunday)


 Here we are at the Tisza (pronounced TEE SAH) River. It was all in Hungary until the borders of Hungary shrunk. The other bank is New Szeged.



The vegetation runs wild along the river,

but these treasures along the road that runs parallel to the river are exquisite.


I saw these down the street from the Hotel Matrix. They are hanging from the tree.

Fall Colors and Cityscapes

 October 21, 2024 Last week, I learned from my university students that Monday and Tuesday were fall break. (This does not coincide with fall break at the vocational high school  which is for a week starting next Monday or the high school which is for a week starting next Wednesday) With an unexpected holiday, a friend in Budapest suggested a hike on Gellert Hill to look at the fall colors.  I almost missed the train. I was up at 6:30 for my daily Bible reading with the gang in Shanghai, which we finished quite early this morning and all my picnic preparations were done last night, but 8 o’ clock still creeped up on me and caught be by surprise. I had to look for my letter from the university that gives me a 50% discount on train fares and my ID. I also looked for my charger to make sure my phone would have peak performance.
